Tricia Zinke

Owner/ Lead Stylist

Tricia started her journey into hair in 1999, right after she got home from a year of travelling and playing the trombone with Up With People, which is a multi-cultural performing arts leadership program. While traveling, the cast members had very little money, and had no time to find someone to cut their hair, so Tricia offered her services and realized she had a knack for it. Thinking this could be a long-term option for her, she attended Haywood Community College. Tricia graduated and got her license in 2001 and started her career with the dreams of continuing to help people like she did when she was traveling.

Tricia married her love, Paul, in 2002 and they welcomed Adrian in 2004, Logan in 2009, and then Eric in 2015 thus completing their family! In 2005, Tricia branched out on her own and started working for herself and she absolutely loved it!

Always a lover of music, Tricia joined the Asheville Lyric Opera as a professional Chorus member in 2006. During the production of Madame Butterfly, Tricia jumped in to help with some of the wig duties because the make-up artists were swamped. The following season, she was offered a position as the Hair Designer and, of course, she said yes! In the fall of 2009, she was promoted to the Hair and Make-up Designer and was an integral part in the creative process for each production until 2015, when she decided to step away to focus on her business.

Speaking of business! Never one to sit still, Tricia decided she needed to learn more about the business side of things and took a class at Mountain Biz Works in June of 2010. It turned into an 8 week business plan course and about halfway through, she realized she was confident she could open a salon. Almost a year to the day, Asheville Hair Design was open!

Tricia is currently focusing on growing the business and training and supporting her staff to reach for their professional goals. All of her stylists are in tune to Tricia’s philosophy of Team-Based Service to care and empower our guests. She has continued to take business classes to focus on her leadership skills and has been to New York City and Washington D.C. for intensive training on the philosophy of curly hair care. She has been a member of Curly Hair Artistry since 2014.

Tricia’s passion for hair is equally matched with her need to care for and encourage a positive learning environment not only for her stylists, but for the guests we empower. Our goal is to bring the beauty from the inside out. We endeavor to educate our guests so they have the power to recreate at home, what we do for them at the salon.

Welcome to our family!

I love self expression and giving someone confidence in the perfect hair style and color! My specialty is in fashion colors, but I will never knock someone for wanting to stay with their natural color. Being in the industry for two years, I'm still new to the game but I will make sure to try my hardest to help our clients achieve the perfect look!

A little about myself... I love pins and lanyards. They are my favorite things to collect. I also love Dungeons and Dragons, a role playing game I play with friends weekly.

Working with AHD and in a team based salon has been the best experience, I love working as a team in order to bring the best experience to our clients. We bring a bright and warm culture to everyone that comes into the salon, clients and stylist alike!

I've been Tricia's brother all of my life and most of hers. We've always been so busy throughout our adult lives that we never really got so see each other much. When she asked me to come help her at the salon, I jumped at the chance.

My passion is music. I sing and play guitar in a band called Blaze The City.
